10,000m3 extension to limestone quarry
Lincolnshire County Council has granted permission for a 0.29ha extension to Ancaster Quarry. The quarry had reopened in 1998 to provide a source of dimension stone for use in the renovation of historic buildings as well as in construction projects in the UK and abroad. The quarry lay within an area of Jurassic sedimentary rocks. The Lincolnshire Limestone, the main building stone within the quarry, was a yellow buff coloured stone occurring in beds up to 1m thick.
