Court of Session rules on overriding need for sand and gravel extraction

In Patersons of Greenoakhill Ltd v The Scottish Ministers, South Lanarkshire Council [2014] CSIH 24, the Court of Session was asked to consider whether a reporter had erred in his reasoning and conclusion that the benefits of a proposal to extract sand and gravel did not outweigh the significant adverse landscape and visual effects that would arise, during operations and following restoration.
