Energy from waste- Dagenham works begin on low-carbon venture

Work has started on an £80 million energy from waste plant in Dagenham. The scheme will be one of the UK's first large-scale advanced gasification plants. Once operational in 2013, it will turn almost 100,000 tonnes of waste into around 19MW of energy, powering up to 15,000 local homes.
