Extension of time for restoration

Fife Council has allowed an additional 10 years for completion of a restoration scheme on a 28ha former colliery site. The site comprised areas of terraced and deeply excavated opencast mineral workings with limited grass and shrub cover. It was part of the former Bowhill Colliery, where extraction ceased in 1999, after which it had been used for a number of years for the recovery of coal slurry.
