Government 'using planning to manipulate peat'

The chief executive of a horticultural company whose application to extend the life of one of its peat bogs has been turned down by Communities Secretary Eric Pickles following an appeal says the decision shows the Government is using the planning system as a "blunt instrument" to manipulate the peat market.
