Hinkley Point C new nuclear power station given consent despite profound objections

A nuclear power station with a generating capacity of 3260MW at Hinkley Point in Somerset has been given development consent. The scheme also comprised temporary accommodation for construction workers; 4 park and ride sites; 2 freight handling facilities in Bridgwater; reconstruction of an existing wharf and a new freight laydown area, and improvements to several road junctions in the area.
