Marina plan found contrary to green belt policy

An inspector has overruled claims that very special circumstances justify plans to extract half a million tonnes of sand and gravel in the Nottinghamshire green belt followed by the site's redevelopment as a marina. It held that the harm caused to the area's openness was of overriding significance.
