National Park go-ahead for gold mine

Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority have approved plans for a 10 year underground gold mine facility at Cononish near Tyndrum. At a special meeting of the National Park Board, Members heard from the applicant Scotgold Resources Limited, supporters and objectors before making the final decision. The application was submitted in July 2011 after a previous and different application was refused in 2010.
