Policy - Ministers urge councils to press on with plans as regional strategies axed

Communities secretary Eric Pickles last month revoked regional spatial strategies (RSSs) with immediate effect. Power will be handed back to councils and communities to make their own decisions on planning in a substantial move towards localism. In addition, ministers have promised protection for green belts around 30 towns.
