Removal of holiday occupancy conditions Q & A DCP Section 9.7

This section is concerned only with the removal of conditions which have been imposed on caravans, chalets, conversions or other dwellings which otherwise restrict their use to holiday or other similar non-permanent residential occupation. The effect of the removal of such conditions is to create a permanent dwelling with unrestricted occupancy, often in a location where such a development would not have been allowed in the first instance. This may have important policy repercussions in terms of precedent, or may attract objection that dwellings are being created without sufficient amenity/ structural qualities for permanent use. Considerations arising from the relaxation of seasonal occupancy conditions are dealt with at (9.541) for permanent buildings, and (24.241) for caravans.
