Residential park homes Q & A DCP Section 24.1

This section is concerned with the development or extension of sites and parks containing semi-permanent mobile homes and chalets used for all year round residential purposes. Such units are normally known as 'park homes' and are usually specifically designed to look as much like conventional bungalows as possible. Static holiday parks are discussed at (24.2), gypsy sites at (24.5), infill and small-scale sites, such as those involving only one or two units, at (24.6) and houseboats at (24.8). Caravans required for agricultural workers are covered at (9.3) and, if sought to be justified by the needs of other rural enterprises, at (9.2). Residential parks do not generally contain other types of caravan use, and in practice many mixed-use sites owe their characteristics to previous partial changes from holiday use, often due to immunity from enforcement being achieved. Consideration of the circumstances in which conditions restricting the use of mobile homes to holiday/seasonal purposes may be removed can be found at (9.7).
